Saboteurs Handed 4-2 Loss by Squirrel Hill
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Toledo Saboteurs played an exciting game.
Bruce King was instrumental in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Toledo Saboteurs. The first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs for the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. José Sandoval, the winner, goes to 8-3. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. Otis Farr was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 20 save opportunities.
King had a big hit for Squirrel Hill with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. With Squirrel Hill leading 2-1, King hit a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Pierogis up, 3-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," King said after the game.
By defeating Toledo, the 7th-place Pierogis improved to 35-40.
