The St. Petersburg Thunder got a magnificent effort from pitcher Hal Gaines, who kept Minnesota hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Thunder win at Loony Bin. The winner was Gaines. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jesús Delgado. Kyle Warren earned the save for St. Petersburg.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tom Burke? The St. Petersburg right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Thunder on top, 2-0. For the game, Burke had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
