Rainbow Mermaids Beaten By Voodoo, 2-1

New Orleans and Northern Virginia duked it out and the Voodoo came out victorious.
The New Orleans Voodoo got a stellar effort from pitcher Alfredo Maldonado, helping New Orleans score a win over the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 2-1. Dexter Yates was credited with the save, his 8th in 9 tries.
Had Shu-yaan Hor not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hor hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Voodoo.
"Alfredo's as tough as he is talented," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims.
New Orleans has run its win streak to 5 consecutive.
