Rocketeers Take Down Blue Demons, 3-2
|
The Seattle Rocketeers faced a tough opponent in Mexico City pitcher Gilbert Owen, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Condor Nest by a final score of 3-2. Owen went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Jonathan Luna picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Cam Butler, who is tied for 5th in the PL in saves with 13, took the loss. Getting the save was José Correa, his 11th.
Seattle used a well-timed hit by Étienne Duchesne to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rocketeers ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Duchesne.
The Rocketeers move to 50-38 with the win, while the Blue Demons drop to 37-51.
