At Toledo Backyard Park, the Toledo Saboteurs and Gwinnett Guinea Pigs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Randy Pierce, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in wins with 8, imposed his will on the Saboteurs from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 6-1 Gwinnett triumph. Pierce, the winner, moves to 8-8. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks.

Gwinnett needed the clutch hitting of Chris Cook to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Guinea Pigs on top, 2-1. For the game, Cook had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Pierce.

With the win, Gwinnett upped its record to 40-39.
