Highlanders Get Hard-Earned Win
The Asheville Highlanders had to overcome a fine effort from Chesapeake pitcher Warren Evans to win, 5-4, in 16 innings at Asheville Park. Evans went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Asheville is first in the Silver AA with a record of 48-32.

The Highlanders relied on right fielder Eddie Jones for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 16th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We did enough to win," said Jones.
