The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from pitcher Juan Castillo, but the Boston Patriots still won the game, 3-2. Castillo threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Vic Byrd, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The loss puts New Orleans at 4-5.

The Patriots were down to their final out when pinch hitter Bill Castro turned a 1-0 cutter from Jared Wilson into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Dunkin Donuts Park crowd go wild.

"This place sure got loud," said Brian Fahie, the Boston manager.
