Javelina Dealt 7-2 Loss
|
Minnesota Loons starter Daniel Shields turned in a top-notch performance against the Arizona Javelina at Loony Bin. The result was a win for the Loons, 7-2. Shields yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-5. The win puts the Loons at 47-36, while the Javelina drop to 32-51.
Cy Curry had a big 3-run home run for the Loons in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Minnesota leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Pedro De Jesús and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Loons on top, 7-1.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Curry.
