Matthews Helps Thunder Defeat Blue Demons, 9-0
With right fielder John Matthews leading the charge, the Toronto Thunder defeated the Mexico City Blue Demons, 9-0, at Thunder Field. Matthews, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in stolen bases with 23, was 2-2 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. The defeat makes Mexico City 34-55.

With Toronto leading 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Matthews came up to bat against Mexico City pitcher Tom Johnston. Matthews hit a cutter to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Thunder on top, 7-0.

"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Matthews told the Toronto Today.
