Toledo Falters Again, Loses, 4-2, to Marquette
|
The 4-2 Marquette win over Toledo was due largely to Juan González. The Miners left fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bill Tuttle came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The Miners have now won 5 straight.
Had Sean Tapia not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Tapia hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Miners.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Tapia said after the game.
