Thunder Winners, 3-0, at Experimental Stadium

Sean Long, who is tied for 8th in the SAA in wins with 7, pitched well, but the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs still fell short, losing, 3-0, to the St. Petersburg Thunder at Experimental Stadium. Nelle Oort, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. Keith Greene was called on to finish, recording his 13th save.
Tied up with the Guinea Pigs in the top of the fourth inning, the Thunder got a boost from third baseman Francisco García. With runners on 1st and 2nd, García saw a 2-0 slider from Sean Long and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put St. Petersburg on top, 1-0.
García said his team "played with determination."
After today's action, St. Petersburg sits at 35-49; Gwinnett slips to 44-40.
