MotorBoaters Get Clutch Win, 3-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders got a superb performance from pitcher Ray Campbell, but the Lake Murray MotorBoaters still won the game, 3-2. Campbell threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Lake Murray reliever Brandon Huffman got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Jorge Marroquín was tagged with the loss. The 'W' lifts Lake Murray's record to 41-43.
Lake Murray took a 3-2 lead on Ángel Ortíz's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Ortíz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Asheville pitcher Jorge Marroquín visibly frustrated.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Lake Murray manager David Buchanan said.
