Providence pitcher Ed Lemay had a large part in his team beating the Arizona Javelina, 4-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bill Thomas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 4 save opportunities. The slumping Javelina have dropped 6 in a row.
The Pilgrims got a big at-bat from catcher Marshall Moore. For the game, Moore was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Providence a 2-0 lead.
Lemay called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
