Highlanders Shut Out Pierogis, 7-0
|
Pitcher Lúcio Patino was sensational for the Asheville Highlanders in his team's 7-0 triumph over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. Patino earned the win. Patino got the win, improving to 7-4. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Asheville is now 56-33. Squirrel Hill is 44-45.
Asheville used a well-timed hit by Tom Baker to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Baker.
