Thunder Hawks Get Past Gulf Coast, 5-4
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks locked up a win at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, knocking off the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 5-4. On the mound for Ft. Polk South was right-hander Rafael Videla. He played a major role in the triumph. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Adam Hill. Gulf Coast now owns a losing streak of 6 games.
Had Duke Hoban not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hoban hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Thunder Hawks.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Gulf Coast manager John Simpson. "The effort was great."
