The Squirrel Hill Pierogis downed the Billings Polar Bears, 7-5. The hitting star was left fielder Roger Miller. Miller was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pierogis. Sean Jones got the win, improving to 2-12. He held the Polar Bears to 1 run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Richard Roche earned his 9th save in 9 chances.
With Squirrel Hill leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Miller hit a run-scoring single off Billings hurler John Joseph. It was the 82nd hit of the season for Miller and put his team ahead, 3-1.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Miller told the Squirrel Hill Times. "It's as simple as that."
