Pierogis Squelch Thunder Offense in Shutout Win
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis went home winners at Field of the Rawhides, thanks in large part to starter José Sandoval. Sandoval stifled the St. Petersburg Thunder, enabling Squirrel Hill to grab the 4-0 win. The winner was Sandoval. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Lan-quing Xin. Squirrel Hill is in 9th place in the Silver AA with a record of 39-52.

Squirrel Hill left fielder Roger Miller contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 83rd hit of the season and put the Pierogis ahead, 3-0.

In postgame comments to the Squirrel Hill Times, Miller said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
