The Asheville Highlanders racked up a win at Asheville Park, bumping off the Barton Springs Blues, 3-1. Charlie Leslie, who started for Asheville, pitched effectively for his team. The last-place Blues dropped to 34-57.

Had Tim King not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, King hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Highlanders.

In postgame comments to the Asheville Gazette, Leslie said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
