Highlanders Roll to 8-3 Win Over Polar Bears
|
Jorge Zapata left his imprint on the 8-3 Asheville win against the Billings Polar Bears. Zapata, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in triples with 4, was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Joaquín Martínez earned the win to go to 5-3. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Asheville has a record of 48-43, placing them 7th in the Silver AA.
Tom Crawford had a big 3-run home run for the Highlanders in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Asheville leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a knuckle curve from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Troy Hamilton and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Highlanders on top, 5-1.
"Feels good to get the job done," Crawford said after the game.
