Brown Lifts Blues to 9-4 Triumph
|
Behind the hitting of Garry Brown, the Barton Springs Blues stopped the Arizona Javelina, 9-4. Brown hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Blues. The winning pitcher was William Richmond. His record now stands at 8-6. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Blues. The 8th-place Blues now have a win-loss record of 42-50.
Brown contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Barton Springs in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Brown took a curveball from Rafael Cruz and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Blues to leap in front, 3-2.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Brown told the Barton Springs Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
