Whales Spoil Great Performance by Edwards
Yakima left fielder Donovan Edwards pounded Virginia Beach Whales pitchers at Virginia Beach Grounds, but it was not enough to keep the Hops from falling, 10-7. Edwards belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Michael Wright, 4-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Carlos Mejía collected his 22nd save.

The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the second inning, when the Whales were trailing 2-1. Chris Thompson delivered a two-out bases-clearing double for Virginia Beach, catapulting his team into the lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Thompson. "And not try to do too much."

At 44-49, the Whales claim 8th place in the Silver AA.
