Cangrejos Fantasmas Win at Squirrel Hill, 4-3
|
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas beat the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 4-3, at Field of the Rawhides. Carlos Gómez, in particular, was impressive. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Britt Peck in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Jed Knight took the loss. Lorenzo García picked up the save for Chesapeake, his 1st of the year.
Had Dana Brown not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Brown hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Cangrejos Fantasmas.
"Nice win for us," said Gómez. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Chesapeake has now won 6 straight.
