Highlanders Topple Ghosts, 3-1
|
The Asheville Highlanders earned a close win over the Casper Ghosts, thanks in part to Lúcio Patino. The Asheville right-hander, who is tied for 7th in the SAA in complete games with 1, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The loss makes Casper 45-50.
Jim Brandt had a big run-scoring double for the Highlanders in the bottom of the third inning. With Asheville leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Kanzaburo Ichikawa and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Patino.
