Downward Spiral Continues for Tacoma
|
Ballpark of Tacoma was the site of a competitive game between the Tacoma Fur Traders and Marquette Miners.
The Marquette Miners had to overcome a big game from Tacoma right fielder Alcander Kaloxylos to leave Ballpark of Tacoma with a victory. And they did, winning, 4-3. Kaloxylos was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. The Miners lead the Silver AA by a game.
Viet Long went 1-3 with a walk for Marquette. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Long, who is tied for 6th in the SAA in doubles with 18, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Tacoma hurler Bartold Aarts, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Miners a 4-3 lead.
Long said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
