The St. Petersburg Thunder converted a terrific effort from starter Otojiro Kozawa into a win over the Providence Pilgrims at Baby Thunder Dome. The Thunder won the game by a final score of 4-2. The 7th-place Thunder now sit at 43-52.
José Medina, who is tied for 9th in the SAA in home runs with 14, took Providence hurler Luis Muñóz deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Thunder on top, 4-2. In all, Medina had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Providence manager Arturo Rochel. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
