Highlanders Rally to Eke Out Win
The Asheville Highlanders downed the Toledo Saboteurs, 7-6. The hitting star was left fielder Arturo Martas. Martas went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Highlanders. Eric Sims was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-2. The losing pitcher was Mark Peterson. Doyle Manning recorded the save for Asheville, his 1st of the season.

Jim Brandt went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Asheville. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Peterson. It was his 43rd RBI of the season.

"It was a solid team effort," said Martas after the game.
