Ghosts Lose at Home, 3-1
|
Joe Sheffield pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Casper Ghosts, despite Sheffield's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Marquette Miners at The Graveyard. Pedro Hernández, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Picking up the save was Jody Dunn, his 22nd.
Marquette used a timely hit from Evan Cook to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"I felt good up there," said Cook. "I saw the ball well."
Marquette is first in the Silver AA with a record of 56-41.
