Polar Bears Earn Late Win
|
The Igloo was the site of quite a ballgame.
The Lake Murray MotorBoaters got a sterling performance from left fielder Rick Etheridge, but the Billings Polar Bears still prevailed, 4-3. Etheridge was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Fernando Ortega picked up the win. His record improves to 4-4. Jesse Parker took the loss.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old shortstop Kenzo Hatakeyama had a real shot to win the game. Lake Murray pitcher Jesse Parker was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Hatakeyama hit a 2-run single. The Polar Bears had a walk-off triumph.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Hatakeyama. "You've got to get results."
At 47-50, the Polar Bears are currently 5th in the Silver AA.
