Manuel goes 4-for-5 in Miners Win
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Júlio Manuel, the Marquette Miners defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 8-1. Manuel was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Miners. With the win, Marquette upped its record to 57-43.
Marquette used a clutch at-bat from Evan Cook to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Miners ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Cook attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
