Ft. Polk South turned a fine outing from starter Ken Rhodes into a victory over the Arizona Javelina at Javelina Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Rodríguez. With the win, Ft. Polk South goes to 47-54, while the Javelina fall to 46-55.
Tied up with the Javelina in the top of the fourth inning, the Thunder Hawks got a boost from designated hitter Ryan Leroy. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Leroy saw a 1-0 sinker from Will O'Halloran and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Ft. Polk South on top, 1-0.
Leroy called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
