Highlanders Rally Late to Clip Marquette
|
The Asheville Highlanders downed the Marquette Miners, 4-3, in 12 innings. Arturo Martas led the way, going 6-for-6 for Asheville. The win went to Edward Lamb in relief, making him now 4-5. Tim Evans took the loss for Marquette. The Highlanders, at 53-48, sit in 7th place in the Silver AA.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Asheville. That's when 28-year old shortstop Bryan Williams hit a run-scoring double off Tim Evans to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"It never gets old," said Williams. "Winning, that is."
