Miners Get Clutch Win Versus Lake Murray
The Marquette Miners electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.

The 4-3 Marquette win over Lake Murray was due in large part to Lou Pennington. The Miners left fielder went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Marquette reliever Ray Duncan was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Ijsbert Cornelis took the loss.

Marquette got a clutch hit from Viet Long. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"This joint was rocking," said Long.

At 61-41, the Miners find themselves in second place in the Silver AA.
