Highlanders Drop Miners, 3-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders had to overcome a good performance from Marquette pitcher Bo Taylor to claim a 3-2 win at Asheville Park. Taylor went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Asheville bumps their record to 54-48 with the win.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Highlanders had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when first baseman Tom Rich hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Bo Taylor and made the score 2-1, Highlanders. Rich went 1 for 1 with 2 walks.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Rich. "I just want to win ballgames."
