The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles put one in the win column with an opening day 6-5 triumph over the Marquette Miners. The crowd at Mercer Island Grounds watched Dane Kennedy put on a fine performance.

Making an impact for Mercer Island was shortstop Logan Unicume. Phoenix drilled a double off Chong-chun Park in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Unicume went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kennedy told the Mercer Island Citizen.
