Miners Win at Mercer Island, 5-3
|
Jared Tomlinson did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles from being beaten, 5-3, to the Marquette Miners at Mercer Island Grounds. Tomlinson was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Jody Dunn collected his 2nd save. The Miners, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Marquette used a well-timed hit by Morgan Reynolds to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Miners ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I felt good up there," said Reynolds. "I saw the ball well."
