Marquette had no answer for Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Mark Moss, who flummoxed Miners hitters as the Screaming Eagles cruised to victory, 6-1. John Sanders earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Mercer Island is now 1-2.

Late in the game, center fielder Jared Tomlinson had a big at-bat for Mercer Island. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Holden Roberts. The play gave the Screaming Eagles a 2-1 lead.
