Miners Need Extra Frames to Get Past Screaming Eagles
|
The Marquette Miners had to overcome a fine effort from Mercer Island pitcher Charles Siddorn to win, 4-3, in 11 innings at Mercer Island Grounds. Siddorn went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner in relief was Phillip Peters. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Bo Taylor wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
This game was not decided until Laakea Enuma came to bat in the top of the 11th. With the bases loaded and no one out, the Marquette right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Miners took the lead, 4-3.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Andrés Pérez.
Mercer Island is 2-1 after the defeat.
