Dave Cooper impressed in the 8-3 Chesapeake win over Olympia. Cooper, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2060 draft, was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher José Bautista. He tossed 85 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Bob Merendino picked up the save for Chesapeake, his 1st of the year.
With Chesapeake leading 3-1 in the top of the second, Cooper came up to bat against Olympia pitcher Broderick Morales. Cooper hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 6-1.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Andrés Gonzáles.
The Cangrejos Fantasmas raised their record to 2-1.
