Gwinnett first baseman Bryan Rivers was sensational. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Mercer Island beat the Guinea Pigs, 4-3. The winner in relief was Billy O'Bryan. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Gwinnett drops to 1-3.

The decisive blow was delivered by David Acevedo in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Griffin to win the game for Mercer Island. The home crowd went nuts.

"We did a lot of things right," said Acevedo.
