Squirrel Hill pitcher Sean Jones gave the Mariachis all they could handle, but in the end, Nuevo Mexico left Field of the Rawhides with a win, 2-1. Jones allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 6.1 innings. The save was credited to Cooper Jefferson, his 3rd. The win lifts Nuevo Mexico to a record of 3-2.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Donnie MacKim came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Squirrel Hill pitcher Richard Roche, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nuevo Mexico on top, 2-1.

"That's baseball," said Squirrel Hill manager Luis Pamparacuatro. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
