Marquette got a decent performance from pitcher Marvin Glendenning, but it wasn't enough to beat the Olympia Ogres. Olympia won the The Ogre Den contest, 4-2. Glendenning threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Alfonso Ríos. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Ogres. Jorge Mojica closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.
Alfred Griffin had a big 2-run home run for the Ogres in the bottom of the second inning. With Olympia trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Marvin Glendenning, the 21st overall pick in the 2056 draft, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Ogres on top, 2-1.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Griffin.
The win lifts Olympia to a record of 3-2.
