Mariachis Saddle Cangrejos Fantasmas with 7-3 Loss
|
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis defeated the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 7-3. Doing his part was center fielder Sherman Moore, who went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Victor Collins, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Cangrejos Fantasmas to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Alberto Martínez collected his 1st save.
Edmund Hall had a big hit for Nuevo Mexico in the bottom of the first inning. With Nuevo Mexico leading 2-0, Hall hit a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Mariachis up, 4-0.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Nuevo Mexico skipper Andrés Ventura.
The win gives Nuevo Mexico a record of 4-2.
