Thrilling Victory Pushes Miners Win Streak to 6
|
Marquette Miners starter Pepe Valentín found his groove in his team's 4-3 win over the Olympia Ogres. Bryan Ogle snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Shane Park suffered the loss. With the win, Marquette elevates its record to 6-0.
Marquette used the hitting of Francisco Vargas to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Miners on top, 4-3. For the game, Vargas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Olympia manager Andrés Gonzáles said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
