Nuevo Mexico and Squirrel Hill got after it at Field of the Rawhides.

The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis pinned a convincing loss on the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 9-3, at Field of the Rawhides. Jean Mazet was a main factor in the win. He went 1 for 2 with a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Nuevo Mexico. Urpo Mäkitie picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 1 in 5.1 innings. Xing-fu Weng collected save number 1.

The Mariachis got a lift from catcher Tim Bender, who in the top of the sixth hit a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Mariachis on top, 5-2.

"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Luis Pamparacuatro. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."

Nuevo Mexico goes to 4-2 with the win.
