The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis and Vancouver Vipers played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Nuevo Mexico got a strong outing from Martin Schneider as the Mariachis defeated the Vancouver Vipers, 3-1, at Mariachi Band Shell. Schneider yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-1. Cooper Jefferson collected his 4th save.
Nuevo Mexico went in front, 2-1, on Chris Long's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Long hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Vancouver pitcher Dale Allen visibly perturbed.
Long called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
With the loss, Vancouver is 6-1.
