Nuevo Mexico used a superb performance from starting pitcher William Nevárez to down the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 5-0. Nevárez picked up the win for Nuevo Mexico, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Gwinnett is 3-6 after the loss.
It could have been a different outcome for Nuevo Mexico, had it not been for Santiago Ybarra, the 26-year old third baseman . Ybarra contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Nuevo Mexico up, 2-0.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Nevárez.
