Miners Win Streak Reaches 9
|
The Marquette Miners topped the Philadelphia Liberty Academy by a score of 5-2. Leading the way was center fielder Francisco Vargas. Vargas went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Miners. The winner was Marquette reliever Cam Stone, now 1-0. The loser was Michael Adkins. Darryl Brady earned the save for Marquette, his 5th.
Marquette took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Daniel Tidwell hit a 2-run single to make it 4-2, Miners.
"I like our mindset right now," said Marquette manager José Luna.
The win puts Marquette at 9-0.
