Cangrejos Fantasmas Turn Back Javelina, 4-2
|
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas topped the Arizona Javelina, 4-2, with third baseman Dave Cooper playing a big role. Cooper was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Cangrejos Fantasmas in the win. The winning pitcher was Howard Rodríguez. He tossed 84 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Mario Pérez sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Tied up with the Javelina in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cangrejos Fantasmas got a boost from first baseman Carlos Gómez. With the bases loaded, Gómez saw a 1-1 fastball from Don Wichman and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Chesapeake on top, 3-1.
"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said Arizona manager Dino Moonglampers.
The victory makes Chesapeake 6-3.
