Liberty Academy Suffer One-Run Loss at Olympia
|
Led by Ed Brandon, the Olympia Ogres defeated the Philadelphia Liberty Academy, 6-5. Brandon was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Ogres. Jorge Mojica closed the game out for Olympia, earning his 2nd save. The loss makes Philadelphia 4-6.
The Liberty Academy had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Ogres going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old right fielder Li-ping Niu came to the plate. Niu hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch fastball from Philadelphia hurler Don Swift. It was Niu's 1st double of the year.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Brandon.
