Curtis López never let Mercer Island get something going. The Nuevo Mexico right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Mariachis to a 4-0 win. López, now 2-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The loss drops Mercer Island to 5-6.

Jaime Carrillo dealt the Screaming Eagles a blow in the top of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Nuevo Mexico leading 2-0, Carrillo hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Mariachis manager Andrés Ventura.
