McElroy Helps Gwinnett Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Sam McElroy, the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs knocked off the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 10-3. McElroy went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for the Guinea Pigs. Sam Frey was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. The Turbeaus, now 3-10, continue their inauspicious start.
With Gwinnett leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, McElroy hit a cutter from Danny Hill for a run-scoring double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 2-0.
