Win Streak Now at 8 for Patriots
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Boston Patriots and the Hollywood Shredders, pitcher Sidney Petty was the difference between victory and defeat. The Boston right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Patriots win. The winning pitcher was Petty, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The Patriots have now reeled off 8 straight wins.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Víctor Sánchez to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Patriots ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"When I throw strikes I'm good, if I don't I'm not very good," said Petty. "So I just have to throw strikes."
