Screaming Eagles Get Past Bethesda, 6-5
Bethesda got a terrific game from second baseman Blake Murray. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Mercer Island, 6-5. Murray was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Mercer Island reliever Manny Sexton picked up the win to move to 2-1. Baltwin Jens suffered the loss. John Sanders closed the game out for Mercer Island, earning his 1st save.

Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Rudolf van Kastel to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Mercer Island manager Eric Todd was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.

The defending champion Screaming Eagles are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 4th win in 14 games.
