The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Asheville Highlanders, 6-5, at Asheville Park. Mercer Island first baseman Orlando Figoroa had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sixto Espinosa got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Highlanders to 4 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 0. The win brings the Screaming Eagles to 10-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

Figoroa made an early impact for Mercer Island when he stroked his 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Screaming Eagles on top, 5-2.
