Nuevo Mexico Dismisses Philadelphia, 5-2
|
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis got a strong performance from pitcher Curtis López. Wasp stymied the Philadelphia offense en route to a solid, 5-2 win at Liberty Academy Field. López yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. The win takes Nuevo Mexico to 9-6.
Nuevo Mexico used a well-timed hit by John Holland to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Mariachis ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Holland. "Just do my job."
