Hicks Pounds 2 Homers in 5-3 Miners Win
Behind the hitting of Curt Hicks, the Marquette Miners stopped the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 5-3. Hicks hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Miners. Ed Fox got credit for the save for Marquette. It was his 5th of the year. The win brings the Miners to 10-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The Miners got a big boost from right fielder Juan González who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Fighting Imps hurler Vincent Jones. It was his 2nd walk of the season and put Marquette on top, 1-0.

"Nice win for us," said González. "Now we'll go after the next one."
