Nuevo Mexico Rallies for 5-3 Win
|
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis picked up a win at Mariachi Band Shell, topping the Olympia Ogres, 5-3. On the mound for Nuevo Mexico was left-hander Gilberto Espinoza. He played a principal role in the triumph. Nuevo Mexico reliever Burt Dickerson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jorge Mojica. At 13-4, the 2062 Mariachis have been excellent so far.
Had Edmund Hall not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hall hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mariachis.
"We'll try to build on that win," Hall told the Nuevo Mexico Observer.
