Olympia pitcher Broderick Morales had a large part in his team subduing the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 3-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. The winner was Morales. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Luis García. Nuevo Mexico is 10-8 after the defeat.
Had Kevin O'Rourke not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, O'Rourke hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Ogres.
"I really like what we did out there today," Morales said after the game.
