Fighting Imps Take Down Javelina, 5-4
|
Ithaca registered a win at Javelina Ballpark by beating the Arizona Javelina, 5-4. Pitcher Gilberto Cruz was one reason why the Fighting Imps triumphed. In 7.2 innings, Cruz surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 2. He allowed 4 runs. Arizona drops to 9-10.
Had Kidlat Pimentel not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Pimentel hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Fighting Imps.
Ithaca manager Jeffrey Lewis said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
