Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Billy Goats

The Colorado Billy Goats battled the Toledo Stingers into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Billy Goats won it, finally, 4-3, in 10 innings. In the game, Colorado first baseman Phil Fields went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Colorado reliever Ron Jewell snagged the win, upping his record to 3-2. Tim Evans shouldered the loss. With this game in the books, Colorado is 45-48, Toledo 55-38.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, slick-fielding shortstop Manuel Gómez had a chance to be the hero. Toledo pitcher Tim Evans wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Gómez hit a sacrifice fly. The Billy Goats had themselves a thrilling win.
